Nakshatra Details
Punarvasu means two (stars) that give wealth again. When the Sun reaches this constellation of two stars in the rainy season, by then the crops that give wealth and grains have sprouted and are flourishing. Probably that is why it is called Punarvasu Nakshatra. Punarvasu Nakshatra is made up of two stars of Gemini zodiac, whose scientific names are Alpha and Beta Gemini and Greek names are Castor and Pollux respectively. In Greek belief, both of them are twin brothers. In this, Pollux star is an ordinary orange star and is 45 light years away from us, but Castor is a super hot blue star and this star which appears as one is actually a group of six stars situated together. The above two twin brothers named Castor or Pollux are called Dioscuri in Greece and their character matches with the medical nature of Indian god Ashwini Kumar.

In Sanskrit, bamboo is known by names like Vansh, Tvaksar, Trinadhwaj, Venu and Shatparva. The word Vansh is derived from the Sanskrit word Vam, which means to spit out. Since the entire bamboo tree sprouts out of its mother tree in a few days, it is called Vansh, which got corrupted to become Bamboo in Hindi.
